Mission Statement
ReCellular Inc. actively supports the protection of the environment by efficiently recycling all our electronic waste, frequently called E-waste. Our everyday pollution prevention activities reduce the need for wireless industry waste to go into landfills. ReCellular believes in a closed production system, and a no landfill policy. We are committed to our customers, our communities and to everyone's environment.
History
ReCellular has been integrating the philosophy of environmental protection since its inception. Because hazardous compounds are found in many electronics it is important to maintain an environmental management policy. We are happy to say that we lead the secondary wireless industry in environmental practice and activities. Further, we are always working to improve our pollution prevention performance, which is important in the ever-changing world economy.
Management Policy
ReCellular is in compliance with MiOSHA, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the Michigan Business Pollution Prevention Partnership (MBP3) and the Washtenaw County Pollution Prevention Coalition, all of which help to protect our employees, our environment and our communities. ReCellular goes above and beyond the regulations and recommendations of these agencies in our commitment to a sustainable environment.
We routinely process used electronic products, such as cellular telephones and accessories. The majority of this product is recycled through resale. Our processing also generates some waste from un-sellable material, such as scrap handsets, batteries, chargers, cigarette lighter adapters and leather cases. Certified smelters contracted nationwide help provide us with the optimum return for scrap products, and assure complete disposal of the material with little to zero impact on the environment. No E-waste goes to landfills or incinerators directly or through intermediaries. No electronic scrap is shipped to "underdeveloped countries". Our certified recycling partners are likewise prohibited from sending e-waste to any country not belonging to the European Union or the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
ReCellular is also committed to the recycling of paper, cardboard and office trash, including Styrofoam, light bulbs, and kitchen material, and to the reduction of energy use in our facilities.
ReCellular is committed to a no prison labor policy, and is compliant with all federal and state labor laws. We require that no sweatshop labor be used in our foreign facilities and endeavor to use only "eco-sustainable" labeled factories as partners.
The ReCellular environmental management plan includes internal audits requested by management, periodical random quality checks, and annual revisions to our environmental policies. These internal procedures were developed to change and improve with the evolving technological and social issues of the future. We ask that our customers and suppliers contact us if they ever have concerns or questions regarding our practices.
